Good point. I'm quite curious myself as to what goes on. It's been uncharacteristically quiet at our shop and we are 12 days into October (as well as the new CBA contract which was supposed to be in effect) now.

Ok, so what is the status of what PATCO was submitting to the DOL due to the blatant violation of the CBA for Oct 1 2023….Any update or ruling? "Working on it." Everybody is on hold waiting for the final language in the FAA Reauthorization Act and the fed budget. I sympathize with everyone's frustration - looks like we're going another year with high inflation and no pay raises. The only weapon we have immediately is to strike - which will result in the immediate closure of the program. Legal action has been prepared, I'm told, but we're having to wait while no one is talking officially. There is a political factor as well that no one is talking about... So we're stuck with being (im)patient...

News from Kathleen: Ladies & Gentlemen, This message is intended to wish you a happy, healthy, peaceful Holiday Season. Regrettably I still do not have emails for everyone so please share this around.
I also want to share some good news. I have been informed that I will be responsible for the collective bargaining after the first of the year. I have already spoken to a couple of Vendors. In addition, I have gotten the ok for the digital systems that I have spoken to some of you about that will increase my ability to serve & communicate with you. I will know the implementation dates soon. More information will follow, but I want to sincerely thank you all and specifically some people who know who they are, for all the support you have given me to help make my job successful for you. I couldn't have done it without you.
I see 2024 as a bright new year for PATCO with lot's of possibilities & change. Thanks for taking the "ride" with me & remember, we are stronger united. Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!
In solidarity,
Kathleen A. Carr Administrative Representative FPD/PATCO/PMSA-PEU/SEAG Affiliate of NUHHCE/AFSCME/AFL-CIO 561-917-7664

How did she become the leader of patco? I don't remember an election. Who is she? I don't know anything about her. Kathleen has an extensive background in working with unions and was hired by PATCO to get all the administrative duties organized so the union can run smoothly. When Jodi Blue left almost two years ago, her position wasn't filled. Things became so unorganized that there wasn't even a members list. Henry is still PATCO president. Richard Perez is still VP. Those are elected positions. However Kathleen will be getting all the membership stuff in order and working on the CBA negotiations. Anything we as field employees can do to assist her will be in our best interest.

Patco hasn't had our best interest for years. And after reading your post I feel nothing will change. The leadership hasn't changed, they are trying to get organized. How long have we been with patco? 20 years and they are just now trying to get organized.
It's a joke.

You don't like what you see? Get off your butt and help us - take all that negative energy and use it constructively. We have hundreds of snipers who want everything spoon-fed to them, and few with the cojones to get involved. Get this straight: PATCO members are the Union, and every member can help. Kathleen has a monumental task - Jodie's records have been lost and Kathleen is trying to rebuild them. I know patience is difficult - we haven't had any pay raises in more than two years and times are tough. Remember this - united we bargain, divided we beg.

Ain’t it just dandy that ATCer/FAA will get 4.7% pay increases…while we still screw the weather people…Corruption abounds at the FAA…

Watching patco giving away our hard earned holiday, Sunday pay, and vacation days away. WITHOUT A FIGHT. I was a dues paying patco until they gave it all away to the contractors! I have seen exactly what patco is, worthless. Are you blind? No just ignorant. No one in their right mind would back this dead horse.

You sound like one who wants the world handed to you on a silver platter. Casting insults to the side for now. Who gave away holiday, Sunday diff, and vacation away? It wasn't PATCO. IF you suffered those things, you aren't under a union CBA. The FA tried to restrict some benefits, but the CBAs have prevented them from stealing from us. Stop looking for others to do it for you - get off your butt and help us. Who is your shop steward? That's a good place to start learning how you can help. Not union yet? Contact Kathleen. FAA trying to poison attitudes? We've seen this rodeo before - we know labor law and how much your agency has been violating it, and we will come after you... When our how hard depends on the outcome of the battle to keep our program open and your actually issuing contracts.

Not trying to stir the pot, and Not bashing PATCO. However for the record, many CBA stations (ours included) DID lose holidays, Sunday diff, vacation pay at the 10/2022 negotiations. Not knowing much about the negotiation process, it appears that contractors always seem to have the upper hand. As steward for our site I provide as much input as possible to PATCO. Now I am supportive to Kathy Carr and sincerely hope she can do some good, notwithstanding some of the undermining she has already faced from within our ranks. If additional involvement is sought by PATCO beyond asking the stations to provide input to CBA wants and needs, I would be interested. We are 99% PATCO and USCWOA members.

PATCO refused to try an unfair labor practices complaint last time, the excuse given was "we think the contractor in question is going to be removed soon, and we can negotiate a new one".
First part proven true, second part they never tried for some reason...

Reply to the previous two posts by binovc and alstein: As explained to me by several contractors for our station over 20+ years in PATCO, CBA negotiation is just that, negotiation. FAA requires contractors to show they are negotiating in good faith - nit-picky "losses" were the ticket to fulfill that - calculate what you gained when you "lost". You had a net win, likely bigger than the inflation rate. The next round of negotiations, we told the union "no give backs" and get those things "lost" back. And we did get them back, though with a little less than we wanted for wage increases that round. PATCO went after that contractor - it just never went to court - I haven't heard if or what the settlement is. Legal expenses are astronomical and are avoided or minimized whenever possible. The fault in your situation is lack of communication, which PATCO is guilty of. Kathleen promises to do better. I don't want to accuse anyone, but someone pissed off the Neimeisers so much a few years ago they stopped picking up the phone - I had a great working relationship with them, and they knew that the call with no caller ident was me... People don't like answering their phone only to be ragged on. Can PATCO improve, be more effective? Of course! Let ll of us PATCO members step up and lend a hand - we can make it happen if we work together and stop sniping.
