My CL31 picks up clouds above 12,000 pretty well, but you have to go to the 12 hr sky condition page in the Sensor area. Yeah, what a big waste of money if they are going back to LAWRS, lol!

wonder how much the FAA got soaked for all these CL31's that won't be put to use above 12k if the tower takes over ALL the cwo's? between that and the useless 16 hours a month of admin time...times over 100 stations...they sure know how to piss away our tax dollars

another fine AWOS the govt suckered this city into buying. 0115Z...TS with CLR...no metars between 0215-0915Z...0915Z...no sky condition or vis. F3 tornado hit this area at 0230Z. no degradation...machines better than a human...blah..blah..blah

our ASOS DCP (which is not even on the airport) went into battery backup due to commercial power failure on the night of 5/15 due to tstms. backup lasted less than 2 hours. then of course, lost all sensors except pressure. this went on for over 10 hours where the observer was required to backup everything except pressure. if the tower was the observer...thinking nothing but altimeter being transmitted during the outage.

Anyone saw San Angelo 's 111kt peak wind at 0651z ? KSJT Typical ASOS crap. Tower will not change that.
