Thanks for the article, rich. I once worked with Bob Poli, (the future PATCO president that got all the controllers fired), at ZOB ARTCC in 1969. I was a trainee and he was a controller. He was a loud mouth back then but a likable guy. But, he led all the controllers down a trodden path while he sailed off into the sunset to hardly ever be heard from again....I heard that he and the VP took most of the union's money with them when they disappeared from sight. Don't know how true that is...just what I heard...

Talked with Sam a few moments ago... I asked for some news that I could post: NATCA is not pushing CWO closure at this point as they were, but they are not helping us yet. Sam's working on this. Jerry Tuso and Mark Neimeiser are "doing stuff" to help the effort. AFSME is helping, working with lobbyist Dennis Houlihan, who is leading the charge on our behalf. The contractors are doing stuff too and have their own lobbyist. Sam urges all of us to get involved politically, no matter the party - position ourselves to influence. WE are the Union. Evil thrives when good people do nothing. My experience (tfn speaking) is that even one person can have an amazing impact when we get involved. The legislation posted buys us no closures in FY17 - but the process will start again for FY18...

Since we are paying Jerry Tuso consulting fees (our dues monies) we should be told what "stuff" he is doing...

AFSME is helping, working with lobbyist Dennis Houlihan, who is leading the charge on our behalf. The contractors are doing stuff too and have their own lobbyist. Dennis Houlihan is shown here as being an AFSCME labor econonist. www.unionfacts.com/employee/American_Federation_of_State_County_%2526_Municipal_Employe/DENNIS/HOULIHANThis is the lobbyist company the contractors used that was very helpful. www.mcbeestrategic.com/Does anyone have a copy or know where we can find PATCO's annual report or any kind of financial statement from them? The DOL website lists hundreds of unions here olms.dol-esa.gov/query/getOrgQry.doI wasn't able to find anything for PATCO but they could be listed under one of the other unions they are affiliated with. Since we are the union it would be nice to know where our money has gone.

It says "The reports are public information and copies are available from OLMS." Call or email them I would guess.

It also says:
I don't recall being asked how much I wanted to pay in union dues.

Yep, it also says that "Unions must make the reports available to members" That would probably be quicker then going through OLMS.

Tornado, the fee schedule was agreed to as part of your union election - they tell us what the minimum fee they would accept for representing us. Some charge as much as 3% of your gross, all of your H&W (to be put in THEIR H&W program) as well as 2 hours wages/month for anyone working more than 30 hours per week. That's why we left Laborer's a few years ago. PATCO by comparison is a good deal... I agree we need some reporting from them - I will keep trying.

NATCA was in cahoots with FAA in trying to shut down CWOs, transfer positions & duties to NATCA and use our program funds to pay themselves raises - & management bonuses. That NATCA is not now pushing that is a great thing - but there is a long road ahead getting them to help us stay open. NATCA has none now nor have they ever had "input into CWO business"... They are just looking for any way, any alliance, that will get them more money and clout with the FAA. They should be our friends, instead they were throwing us under the proverbial bus - or should I say the proverbial DC6 on short final...

NATCA should have as much input in CWO business as the union lobbyists had in telling members that no raise would be negotiated for FY16. The answer in both of these situations should be ZERO !!!
