ALDARS / LAWRS mix. ALDARS jumps between VCTS and TS several times during a two hour period. because LAWRS can keep the location and movement of TS a secret...ap gets hit with near severe wind gusts with no warning. but...got them LTG DSNT wherever remarks!!

ALDARS computed ltg strikes to be 5-10NM or greater from ap...but the lightning map shows at least 1 strike well withing 5NM NW of the ap. a professional observer would have changed VCTS to TS to indicate there was indeed a TS within 5 miles of the field. FAA wants 57 more sites to go to the ATCT. seriously? examples such as this and the very detailed examples provided by tornado will be hidden from the user groups...because ALDARS is accurate...so say people trained to talk to pilots. Checking 4 websites, including ADDS/TAFS; those were the only reports transmitted that hour. So did a thunderstorm begin at 2057Z, only to not get reported until 2140Z? It appears that way! That was a serious ALDARS glitch. Somehow ALDARS got confused and ended the thunderstorm 4 minutes later (at 2101Z), thus cancelling the ASOS SPECI to begin a thunderstorm. Aircraft using that airport, didn’t get correct weather information for much of that hour.

That was a full 10 minutes after the apparent LTGCG AT AP! Also, there were subsequent lightning strikes within 5 miles, the latest at 2020Z. That should have been at least an 18-minute thunderstorm.
