Given that the FAA lawrs stations blatantly disregard the 7900.5D on 99% of their reports...(I can't call them observations, because they don't take the time to observe...it's log in and forget it syndrome)...Now I take it, the blatant disregard for security and Identification is the ongoing theme..(in violation of the information in ASH-SAVI)...I see that the requirement that the PIV badge must be worn and worn properly, is no longer a requirement ,...reason I say this, is because,...There's NOT ONE CONTROLLER in this facility that is wearing their badges, let alone properly wearing it!!!...NO ONE is wearing their PIV badge, AS REQUIRED, in this facility...ATC, TECH OPS, MNGMENT,....ONLY CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL WEATHER OBSERVERS!...So based on observed fact...one would have to conclude that rules don't apply to the elite...and it's a big joke,(Just like they treat WX...a big joke)...

I think it's the fact that some within FAA Management either really don't know what they're doing, are grossly negligent in their duties, are just not grounded with the work that's done "below" them, or like to exhibit double-standards when it comes to contractors (like us). Most likely it is some combination of the above. Additionally, they always seem to be scheming some plan to "save" money in areas that they shouldn't be, which I can only assume is an attempt to justify their jobs and bloated salaries.
And beyond all of the above, they (FAA Management in DC) doesn't realize the potential consequences of their actions (or inaction) when it comes to wx and aviation. It's like using gasoline to help start a fire in that most of the time you can do it without getting hurt, but eventually someone is going to get hurt.

It's called the swamp for a reason... and no they don't care about safety or anything but their own income and power. Ground troops tend to be decent, but the management got a real problem with constipated napoleon.

Really??? The stress, training time, education, and responsibility that controllers go though are so far above and beyond what CWO's do on a regular basis. And all you can do is complain that some don't wear their badges. I know some CWO and even Senior CWO that do NOT even have a current badge. They let it expire and think they do not need to renew it. I think we should try and work with ATC and not against them. It seems this board hates ATC. We should all work together. ATC does not want to be weather observers any more than CWO's want to do their job. At the LAWRS facilities, controllers are working control positions in addition to taking weather obs. Then they need to make an ATIS after they do the obs. CWO's do about 5% of what controllers and get paid pretty darn well for it. But so many CWO want to bash the controllers all the time.

nobody is bashing the tower. but it's obvious that they are not qualified to be weather observers. FAA management has incorrectly determined they can do the job of a CWO with little or no training. they even watered down the test so that now 70% is passing when you had to previously make 80%. and a controller doing his job as well as observing is just an accident waiting to happen. our tower can't even keep tower vis up to date. most of your comments are total BS. especially your first and last sentence.

Contrary to popular belief, a lot of the CWOs are full fledged meteorologist with higher degreed education...MS and Phds...Most ATCers don't even know that...Our site is a case in point...Not only do we have degreed people here but we have over 150 years of experience in the weather field (WB, NWS,Military, Private sector....) We are not bashing ATC, i deal with them all the time in the CWO AND in the COCKPIT...When the FAA and its infinite stupidity wanted to close our CWO, Most of the ATCers towed the line to the NATCA response...Natca and FAA colluded to do weather.. The ATC mentality around here is "we are better then you, so kiss my A$$$...thats the way it is here..Now the older controllers that are on the verge of retirement cooperate across the board, however, the young things are morons, they think they know more about weather than we do......their thing is the rules don't apply to me, hence we dont need badges displayed...Oh, and BTW, badges need to be renewed in order to access the front gate , the doors, and the computers, so don't give me the BS that they don't renew it...

We get along with ATC very well - when they're doing their ATC work, they're the world's best. We get that. But weather observers they're NOT, and they shouldn't be burdened with having to do weather to the detriment of their ATC. If you guys want our respect, try respecting us.
