FAA, over the years, claims they have to cut the budget to run their programs...so lets screw with the CWO program...and so it went... Now, present day, we a have government who just blew 30-40 Million Dollars in Mueller's investigations...and in fiscal 17 the NWS has a 50 Million dollar surplus...but lets keep screwing with the CWO program...Sounds like to me there's plenty of money to throw around...given the above facts....henceforth, the CWO program should be fine, based on there is plenty of dollars to go around...seeing how they (FAA, NWS, gov't in general) can throw money around with no problem...but...but ...but... we are the misfits of the FAA, degraded and looked down upon by the elitist ATC and their minions...and they are still conspiring a way to get around congressional mandates to not close CWOs..."word" has it that the next scenerio will be ..."we won't close the CWOs but all the full time CWOs in the bottom tier of airports,we will make part time...(not top 30 airports)...so see we aren't closing them, just adjusting them".... I would think that this thought process should be relayed to the union and the USCWOA and get preparation for this hideous scenerio...remember, they (FAA) are still ticked off at congress and are still thinking of ways to go around them and get their way... Corruption is there and will continue until the swamp is cleaned...

Snowwx, no one has a surplus, and yes for the rest of your rant... Biggest problem is all the folks in the swamp with 6 figure salaries they can't fire. And many of them do next to nothing other than stir up trouble. Remember, whoever succeeds in closing our program is looking to receive a giant bonus for supposedly saving the govt $... NOT - with the lawsuits following the first airliner crash due to bad weather reporting... But it's okay to report +FC with CLR, just ask Joe... Congress doesn't care about money (they should...), just safety. How many people have to die - when congress asks that and the FAA reports from their SRMPs, stuff will fly - and I don't mean airplanes. We must keep vigilant, but we hold a strong hand - at least until 9/30/23. "Adjusting" our program will be seen as contempt of congress - easy to fight it off if they try. To a swamp rat, cutting the budget means reducing the increase they wanted to ask for...

FAA could care less about contempt of congress...They have been violating and manipulating contracts for years...The FAA thinks that rules don't apply to them...Their arrogance is beyond belief...Additionally, the FAA and NWS ,since the inception of ASLOP, and even prior to that, have degraded the observation program and the old met tech...because of management thinking that forecasters and FAA idiots reign supreme...it used to be a good profession...now...nope! Then they wonder why the models look like crap...ASLOP and LAWRS in and garbage out...

You're right about their apparent attitude, and the results... If it comes to it, they will care about contempt of congress, but it won't result in heads rolling - their unions see to security...

The USCWOA knows exactly what the attitude of the FAA is towards our Contractors and the CWO Program. However, we have folks that are being very proactive with them now and we are being very active in educating the proper people in leadership roles within committees in Congress. So far through our tireless and targeted efforts, we have seen nothing but positive results for the CWO Program. The support for our Program continues to grow within the essential and critical circles in Washington DC. USCWOA's goals are being met and in the first two years have been exceeded. We will continue to work on ways to sustain our Program for years to come. The USCWOA has the proper watchdogs in place now, so if the FAA even begins to make a move on any CWO, we will know about it before most of them will even know. We are currently working and will continue to work in the future on ways to help change the FAA's attitude of us and how much we mean the the NAS. Air Traffic operation numbers just continue to rise at the majority of the airports across the U.S. and the USCWOA will always be the biggest advocate for this Program.
