anyone else have issues with 3.08??? Some that our location has dealt with, include; not being able to override a speci; letting a speci go out after agreeing with ASOS,, only to have ASOS change it at the last minute to a non speci criteria -- then have a correction to make the speci meet it's criteria-- and then ASOS wanting to generate a speci since it's doesn't understand the COR.. many other issues are location has experienced since the "upgrade" all making our job more difficult and now we are told to turn ALDARS on,, what a complete joke.

Why do you have to turn on ALDARS? Should only be turned on when observer not on duty. I remember when it was first installed at a different site I worked. What a nightmare. Lots of canceled speci's, etc. The only thing it was good for was giving us a heads up that there was dsnt ltg out there.

We received a memo from the FAA stating that we are a "test" site for the new 3.08 software (along with about 6-8 other manned A or B stations ). One of the caveats of this "test" site is they want to see how ALDARS handles the new software. Which makes no sense,, because ALDARS is still the same as it was before,, but now it will issue a speci once it detects a VCTS becoming a TS. We all know how that works. The deal is meaningless,, because even with ALDARS turned on,, our station will still be over riding it to meet the 7900 code. LTG DSNT ALQDS or what have you just doesn't cut it with no type or no frequency,, and direction of movement of CB's and TS's. Another thing issued by the FAA that makes no sense...

Ahhh, I see. They did one of those "tests" with version 2.something when I was in Michigan. Finally NWS told us to turn off ALDARS because of all the problems.
