Hey AOMC and its management…Just for your info…when ASOS Crashes and does a warm restart just before an observation…The observer needs to put in all parameters,INCLUDING ALTIMETER… Hence the SYSLOG will say XX turned report processing for pressure sensors off….DUH…thats because we had to enter a new altimeter setting…It will do that when a new value is entered…The OBSERVER is not turning off the sensor…ITS ALREADY OFF…we are just putting in new values as needed until the NWS ET can do a manual reset…which won't happen on a weekend for sure… So quit putting on the open ticket that XX observers keeps turning off altimeter…THEY ARE NOT…GET IT TOGETHER and quit trying to blame observers for that…!!!

We've always been told never to edit the Altimeter Setting from my recollection. It seems to really mess things up with ASOS's averaging.

Well thats usually the case, however, when you have an ob to get out...you don't want the altimeter missing, as would have been the case...

It might be better to do an immediate COR for the missing altimeter. It usually doesn't take more than a few minutes for the ASOS altimeter to come back after a warm start.

Put the altimeter in rmks as ALT_____., then be prepared to do a manual 5appp the next 3-hourly, as this will be missing also. Just get after it immediately after a warm restart. If you edit the altimeter in the data field on the one-minute screen, you WILL turn off report processing for the altimeter, which takes a TEC to turn back on.
