where is your site located? East Coast? Middle of the USA.. We have also been Union since the station started-- 1996-- -- me thinks that helps. Our station has not seen a decrease in benefits since I joined in the late 1990's.

In 1998 the FAA decided that they would no longer pay geographic differentials - and forced my station to take a 40% cut in pay and benefits - this was pre-union. Our contractor at that time told us the only thing we could do was unionize. We are satisfied with our restored pay and quite a bit more over the years. The USDOL wage determination is a joke - though they do look at the union pay to try to judge their own accuracy. What I see from the bellyaching on this thread looks like sour grapes, ingratitude, and a bit of ignorance - we voted to accept our last CBA.

Trust me... you did not vote on anything. You must have a contractor who doesn't yet realize that the union has absolutely no clout or power to demand more than the contractor is offering. What are we gonna do... strike? Nope, not possible. You should be thanking your contractor for your great CBA, not Tuso.

Jerry negotiated, we voted to approve - with the ability to vote no. While I'm not a big union fan, PATCO has done us right and for a very reasonable price. More than wages, the CBA discipline and grievance procedures offer a lot of protection that non-union sites don't enjoy. Avoid the ignorance and listen to the folks benefitting. PATCO is not a rogue union.

Ahaha... O.K. Have you ever opened a grievance? Jerry does absolutely nothing but blow smoke. I opened a grievance and the only thing Jerry said was to contact the DOL. He had absolutely no part of it. I never heard from the company about it either. Total waste. There are no "union attorneys" to help with anything. Jerry is a Liar Liar Liar... We should all vote him out! And Jerry did not negotiate for you... He sends you the 'deal' to vote on after it is already signed by the company. We tried voting "NO" on a CBA deal and he just said "Its done".

As SWO, I've not filed a grievance, but have had to process them - the process works (even when it is a DOL matter), and if attorneys are needed, they get hired - the process reduces the need for shysters. I strongly disagree with your characterization of the CBA negotiation process - I don't know or want to know why you are so averse to the positives of union representation, but I believe your aversion is misplaced and appears to be based on ignorance - we have not had the bad experience you proclaim. Collective bargaining works and we enjoy the benefits of it. And yes, federal and state laws support the collective bargaining process and union representation, unless you live in a "right to work" state. Enjoy your wimpy USDOL wage & benefits if you don't like the union, or finds work elsewhere. I will argue with you no more - but if I were you, I would be very careful how hard I slander the union or Jerry.
