Hello All,
I work for the department of Aviation Management and Flight for Southern Illinois University Carbondale. We have a weather/dispatch center that has access to augment the ASOS on the field. In order to work at the dispatch center, students must pass a weather test given by the NWS to become a weather observer. The only issue is, the NWS no longer gives the test. Can anyone help or point me in the correct direction to get access to the exam, or if anyone knows the process to become certified?

Certification is being done by the FAA. The level of service will determine which test you will need to take. I don't know the service level required at your airport - try asking your flight service station.

FAA is now the agency responsible for issuing exams & certifications for weather observers.
