While there is no hard evidence that word on the contract weather will come down today, the tower closings (to start April 7) will be released today.
Since we are part of the Contract Tower and Weather Group (CTWG) and only 9 days left on the current contract, one would think the i's are dotted and t's are crossed - just waiting on official notice.
Here are a few links that likely will have quick response and post the closing list, at least for the towers:
NATCA ... www.natca.org/
PATCO81 (not our patco) ... www.patco81.com/
PATCO1199 (our patco - but looking at their page, you would not think anything is going on. Don't think this site has been updated in months) www.fpdunion.org/page4a.html
For what it's worth ...
1 - ID office at eastern region was told earlier this week not to do anything with PIV cards that have or will expire. They await direction from headquarters as well.
2 - Some (at least 2) major hubs in the east that are OEP 35 (Operational Evolution Plan) airports have had visits conducting surveys on what is involved in moving OID's to the tower cab. I thought all towers had an OID ...
Now this may also just be the FAA going though the motion (procedure) of collecting as much info as needed, in case the whole program is to close as a price analysis would likely have to be performed and presented to DOT leaders.
3 - NATCA (although I have not seen it) has filed a grievance for those B sites that are now to become C sites on May 1 as those sites did not become C as outlined in the SOP, and only did so after the rules were changed (well documented - removal of tie breaker & 2 year rule).
The grievance is not for our sake, but for the controllers that they represent (which is to be expected) as they are being tasked with additional responsibilities, and from what I read - no increase in wages.
