FAA has created a slippery slope in 7900.5D. 14.32...TS within 5 miles of ap was remarked...TS OHD
ALSO did you note that the passing score for an observers exam has been lowered to 70%?

hlsto2, do you still have the list of things that should have been corrected from the 7900.5b to the 7900.5c, but were not (and assuming they still weren't corrected in the 7900.5d)? PM me if you'd rather.

Does this mean that observers in the Western-Pacific Region, can disable ALDARS?

No. This only applies to where ALDARS service is not available, meaning Alaska, Hawaii, and some AWOS sites. At all other locations, ALDARS report processing on the ASOS must be enabled 24 hours per day unless a site is directed otherwise by FAA Headquarters or NWS electronics technicians. This is stated quite clearly in the ALDARS Clarification memorandum from FAA Headquarters that was issued August 22, 2016.

Interesting vorticity. Are you going to also tell us how CWO sites make as many errors as LAWRS sites next? This garbage, even though the FAA makes up the rules on what is considered a "significant" error, ie, CWO disables ALDARS is just as significant as LAWRS records absolutely no observations for 48+ hours! Good grief, man. Get a grip. You sound exactly like one of the inept who "show up" at FAA ATO everyday. I'd say "show up to WORK", but that would indicate an understanding of a job and that's certainly not what's happening with those trying to command FAA ATO CWO Services!

or it's ok for LAWRS to NOT back up missing data in the middle of a TS...but...by gum...don't you CWO's dare go into AISR to COR CLR to FEW300....even tho the FAA requires CWO's to report clouds above 12K. people trained to talk to pilots are now the resident experts in our profession...

Obvious that vorticity is a troll... Next he's going to tell us that it's okay to report TS or FC with CLR.

Oh I think he's more than a troll northwx, with the likes of his past posts. In fact, I think he comes from the same school of thought as wxmatrix: full of self-proclaimed bullshit, just not as quite of a pompous asshole.

I was trying to be polite... which one of them is Calamity and which one is Klueless I'm not sure... but I agree with your assessment. I don't think either one of them is a pilot or has any understanding that +FC CLR is a safety issue.

So vorticity, rather than just giving me snide remarks, are you an actual weather observer? I'd love to hear from you and your thoughts on the CWO Program and the way the FAA handles it. Feel free to PM or email me. I'll be happy to debate anything to do with "our" program with you.
