For those sites using the test/new software patch in ASOS are you having HAL9000 taking out and or changing augmented "Locked Up" SKY and Present WX conditions? Ive had a fit and originally attributed it to changes in the ALDARS programming but its changing SKY also. Had it take out active TS, add TS, HZ and other conditions even when I have augmented and "locked up" the column. Also taking out layers adding CLR on a layer. These used to be hardstopped as invalid and the ASOS would not/could not add to an augmented column. Also it will leave in BR or HZ when you have changed the VIS.
I can live with most of the other stuff but the taking out TS during an active event is a NO NO! That seriously impacts proper reporting as the COR system is way too slow and it adds to a FUBAR condition of the ASOS having to send a SPECI to correct for what you have already tried to report in the beginning and the COR going out after SPECI. This is particularly bad on the hourly as there is no way to get accurate Obs out quickly with ASOS overriding Obs.

first I've heard of a new software change. if they installed it at your site...maybe you are a test site...to hopefully work out the obvious bugs?

the 3.10 software has been going out for nearly 3 years now, most sites should be upgraded by now.

I thought you were talking about a patch for 3.10. we have 3.10 and are not having that problem. however, at times ASOS will not update manual rermarks on the 1-minjute screen and it seems to be slow in xmiting specis at times.

last i heard 3.10 is the last patch before they go to a new ASOS system (not holding my breath on that one).
