Here is a summary of the cc. I only heard part of it as I got in on the second phone # and missed some of the conversation. Our contract is only good until 9/30/17. Any continuation of our CWO jobs will be through continuing resolution(s). Congress is working on a one year FAA re-authorization and a four year FAA re-authorization. The one year is to bridge the budget gap until the four gets done. The Senate has language in their bill for the CWO program, the House of Representatives bill does not yet. USCWOA and PATCO are working with congress to get CWO program into both bills and the final. If any of this is wrong, someone please update it. Please don't shoot the messenger.

If any of you on Forum want to know exactly or be more up to date on what is happening in Washington to preserve our Program you have many other options to be more informed than just via this weather observer forum. Please consider joining the USCWOA or engaging with our 3 Facebook pages or Twitter page and if you don't want to participate in social media, please just send me your email to cstarrett@outlook.com and I would be happy to share with you the latest news coming out of Washington on us. The Association is ahead of every other entity right now trying to get the word out about us and they are way ahead in engaging the proper committees within the House and Senate.

I was able to dial into conference call. Once I was in I was provided another number to call and a new access code where the conference call actually occurred. The call was centered around what AFSCME efforts are to get favorable language in bills for contract weather observers and towers. USCWOA leadership also spoke in the conference call to inform them of their efforts and see what they can do to work together. USCWOA is trying to get the minutes of the conference call to forward to observers so they can see exactly what was said. dejavu There is a weather observer facebook page for CWO's and SWO's that gets info regularly posted about what is going on. PM your email address and I can add you. northwx sorry you didn't get in. I nearly missed it because I set my reminder incorrectly. chachiman Well said!!

Thanks chachiman and swifterz. I am a member of both PATCO and USCWOA and was my facility's union rep. designee. I believe the Lobby group is doing a great job and is very necessary. So much so, that I encouraged my co-workers to join. Thanks

Thanks dejavu, I agree wholeheartedly and I'll post whenever I learn something. I got an email this morning from Mark: "So sorry about the technical snafu. We had over 50 on the call and had to switch to another call in. I announced the change on the call and Sam sent out text/email to RSVPs. Call then went on without hitch. Our DC lobbyists will send me their notes and other pertinent info. We'll in turn get it out to you and our PATCO members. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Mark " It was sent from the same email address that I couldn't get through to on Friday, so they must have more issues than trying to figure out what time it is... I'll post it when I get the summary. I didn't get the second call in number from Sam - only what was posted on this thread, and by then the telcon was over - it would not have surprised me if 300 had tried to call in.
