you can tell these manuals are written by non-observers. why not just change the contraction for snow pellets to SP? would save a lot of work or...just no remark for hail less than 1/4" GR with no remark = hail less than 1/4" in diameter.

I know one thing....the 7900 is going to have a hard time catching up to the FMH, considering the writers of that manual seem to ignore repeated requests for obvious and needed changes. Now they're going to have to work double-time, which should only take about 4 more revisions and give or take 10 years!

7900...what you get when you have people trained to talk to pilots writing the manual. 7900 will never catch up. it's always been a mess and always will be. they ask for comments on proposed manuals...we send them...they ignore them. then we have these sling psychrometers...

Policy writers don't talk to pilots either (at least they haven't in so long they've forgotten) - nor do they have windows in their cubicles or ever fly in airplanes... Sorry, this sounds more cynical than meant...
