To all my fellow weather observers, I just received my first visit from the FAA in over 6 years. It went very well and it appears there are at least some within the FAA that are PRO-CWO and think that the FAA is crazy and insane to want to transition our current jobs to ATC.

Thanks for the heads up Chachiman. My experience is the same with ALL the FAA employees I've spoken to over 22 years, and all the ones I've knowledge of excepting a few... who have a lot of desire to protect their decision to promote ASOS. There must be more in some other departments and agencies, but that's all I'm privy to. Your inspection should be an encouragement to all of us. Nice to know we have friends.

But I don't believe it until I see them (inspectors) actually (in official writing or in some form other than word of mouth) give us a backing. Slick Joe Calamita inspected many stations in the past and came off the same way to many. And then SLick Joe turned his back bucking for a promotion. Until something is done more significantly (with regards to support of the CWO's_) than a station inspection- I refuse to trust anything related to those that oversee this program. It doesn't mean that we are not in a good position overall-- but personally- I get a little fired up when the first inspection on record recently comes at the site of the USCWOA President. Coincidence? The odds are stacked against that if you do the math.

It does seem a little coincidental but Bill seems like a strait shooter to me. Congrats Chanciman. Im sure the rest of us will be "getting the call" soon.

Never - not from a position of common sense or good business, and certainly not from the last 22 years' experience... I'm sure it couldn't have been Joe doing the inspection - he wouldn't be able to keep a straight face.
