Hopefully each vendor has money for salaries for several pays. If not CWO won't get either.

I believe contractors are required to have a 90 days supply of money for backup.

I guess my question are. 1. How often are the vendors paid from the FAA? 2. When was the last time the received payment from the FAA?
Basically when did the possible 90 day clock start??

Alwayswx, From my experience Vendors are paid monthly with terms of Net 30 for the previous month of service. I don't know if the FAA paid out November invoices before the government shutdown in December. Payment on December invoices will be late and interest will accrue if they are not paid per net 30 terms.

Worse case is the vendors have not been paid for Nov, Dec, and now January. 90 days cones fast. The is not good.

I dont see why they would not have been paid for November

In the past, invoicing was done at the end of the month work was completed and the FAA had 30 days to pay on time, "Net 30." If billing procedures are still operating under this procedure, the only invoice that would be late at this time is the November invoice. The FAA would have 30 days to pay the December invoice on time, and billing for January hasn't even occurred yet.

If vendors for us have 90 days of reserve, does that mean we'll be in trouble around mid-March?

i'm hearing that if the contractors run out of reserve, they will not get back paid...hence we won't get back pay...congressional rulings dont apply again to federal contractors...which is screwed up...so either start now planning ahead, or really get screwed by the end of March...based on 90 day reserve...it would be nice if the contractors would at least give us some idea on end of paycheck timeline instead of calling up and say no pay next pay period and leave us hanging...It NOT a Big secret people...and get the info out NOW!

I dont see why they would not have been paid for November The 2 questions are: 1 - When was the November 2018 invoice due to be paid by the government? 2 - When did the partial government shutdown begin? The partial government shutdown began at midnight of December 21. If invoices for November 2018 were not processed by that time, then November 2018 would be the first month of payment hung up by the shutdown.

SnowWX, that does not make sense to me. Are you saying that if contractors don't run out of reserve they will get paid back. And not get paid if the do run out of reserve.

...so either start now planning ahead, or really get screwed by the end of March... There are credit unions advertising emergency loans for employees being furloughed. One of them lists: - Loan available to all and existing members
- No payments due while shutdown is still in effect
- No credit qualifications needed
- Proof of delayed payroll and copy of last payroll stub
- Must qualify for Membership and pay $10 Membership fee
When I log into my bank's website, there is a notice at the top of the page which reads, "We're here to help those customers affected by the U.S. government's partial shutdown. Please contact us if you have any questions on your account or to learn about the assistance programs that may be available."
Plan ahead, there is help available!
I don't see such a thing on the AFSCME website though...

Someone in another thread said the vendors got the November invoices. If this is true, then mid to late March would be when things would get dicey. It might even be vendor by vendor. Some vendors might have skimmed the books and ran out of money earlier, some might have more and can hold on another month.
The last bit is conjecture on my end.

Alwayswx: Basically, the federal workers, ie ATC...will get their backpay...all pay due to them, after the shutdown is over...Their paycheck will be huge with all the backpay at once...conversely, the Private FAA contractors, will not get any backpay to put back into their reserves...Federal contractors were not in the bill passed by the congress, and signed by the president...so if we, as certified professional weather observers, end up not getting paid at some point, we will not get back pay from the contractors, because they didnt get backpay...unless we have a contractor out there that is full of generosity and money...Not!
