This is a great document. The only thing that I believe should be included is that of manual observations when ASOS is down and/or sensors are not working. That would also require notifications to proper authorities to repair/correct the issue. This would mean an ATC would need to be responsible for a period of time to make these notifications and would need ample time to take manual obs and call them in to FSS.

Only briefly near the beginnig is any of that mentioned about ... "backup and augmented" when required ...
Feel free to insert your one language ... we can always do a re-write ... or can go more in depth on the backup requirements and documentation when discussing one on one ...
btw - has anyone heard that the NWS is doing away with paper copies of the form 10 and only going to have "e-forms" ...
I heard this a year or so ago and we brought up the likely situation that the paper form 10's would be needed in a power outage issue ... so where do we document if we are without power ... ? On scratch paper???
Nothing back ...

At our office, I require my observers to do 5 practice observations a month on the e-form. It is the MFM-10C. I have them fill it out and print it out. it takes up less space, but still can be documented. When in back-up mode, I still have them fill out an original -10C that we also keep on site. It is easy to keep up with both just fine. The new e-form system works just for us.
