Guys, I was just curious what your plans are if the CWO program actually ends everywhere. Any other things you can do with a meteorology degree? Any websites you guys know of to look for other meteorology related jobs? I had some ideas.
-Get an FAA dispatcher licenses. The course takes like 5 weeks long and costs about 4.5K. Most airlines are hiring dispatches where your weather experience could hold some weight.
-If you are young enough, like less than 27ish, go to CTI school to become an air traffic controller. I know a lot of those guys are getting canned too but from what I understand, most are not eligible for FAA controller jobs because of the firm <31 age requirement.
Throughout this entire time I was working as an observer for the past 5 years, I've been throwing in apps to work as a forecaster for the NWS. I honestly don't think you have a solid shot at it unless you have a MS in meteorology, a BS doesn't seem to cut it, even with this weather observer experience.

Being a controller doesn't even sound like a secure job any more. Spending 4.5K for an airline job is a big risk.
The way to go is unemployment, welfare, food stamps, obamaphone. All the free handouts while working for yourself under the table.

None of those things last forever, you end up on disability for 500 a month.

Beats working in food service which I'm currently doing as a part-time job so unemployment would be out for me. Guess I'll go full-time there and make 1/2 what I make now and work twice as hard doing something I hate.

I'm thinking of buying products like LCD TV's and taking them to Argentina to sell for big profit (a $400 tv here goes for $1500 down there and I can say they are gifts so I won't pay customs) and just run up airline miles fly for nothing...otherwise, it's back home with mom and dad or I bail on all my debt and run to Alaska and become a Bush pilot.

I have a BS in meteorology, and I've been applying for NWS jobs, but don't have the right kind of experience to get on..
