Well I also said after hearing from a few people. While the FAA COO wants to close us down their are others in the FAA and elsewhere in the govt that do not. The fact that they halted LAWRS training this week after getting NATCA to agree to do it in the MOU is significant.
Like I said I might be completely wrong....let's see what happens over the next week or two.

Hopefully they stopped it because they opened their eyes. They could have also stopped it to avoid questions on Tuesday...just my thinking. Some things that came up while rewriting the 7900 did "open their eyes"

According to our ATM here in KATL, they have put a hold on the LAWRS training for the time being. This was relayed to me as of late this afternoon. I believe they said it was not only ATL, but the rest of the CWO program. Maybe the right letter stating how insane it would be for someone with no real weather training, 3 to 4 hundred feet in the air, already stressed out and not allowed to go outside crossed the FAA's desk. Hopefully a glimmer of hope in this already stressed out time for us. I might be completely wrong but after seeing the mou and hearing from a few people the past 2 days I am more confident that the program will survive then I was earlier in the week. I would say 50% chance that the program survives intact 90% chance most of the ones scheduled to close in July stay open. Today is 60 days from Jun 15, the date the first set of CWO's were scheduled to transition to LAWRS. Has anyone heard whether it's going to happen? We need to contact the people from A4A mentioned in the articles chachiman linked to and ask them to get the CWO's included in the Blunt bill.
