Mr. Masters is reporting on a proposed 4 day furlough for NWS personnel due to sequester. Please let Mr. Masters and his followers know of our plight and the permanent furlough of us weather observers and it's impact on forecasts, climatology, and air safety. www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/comment.html?entrynum=2386

Nice comment by bluehaze27! (the last paragraph) 317. bluehaze27 3:44 PM GMT on April 16, 2013 Quoting CJ5: Please stop and try to think rationally. The cuts to NOAA, especially the furlough's are insignificant in the grand scheme of things. These types of cuts are designed to get the kind of response we are seeing. Just like the White House tour stoppage, military fly overs and on and on. Meanwhile, nothing of significance that effects the politicians is being cut. The President and Congress are still spending taxpayers money like drunken sailors. The government is a circus and the populace are the clowns. If our country cannot take a 2% reduction on future growth and still provide adequate services then we are doomed. This is scare tactics and does not and will not affect the safety of the citizens. If it does, the government is more evil than any of you can imagine. Four days of furlough for NWS personnel might not affect safety, but the closing of all of the contract weather observers program (I work at the Miami Intl Airport observatory) will. It will also affect climatology and the quality of forecasts, not to mention ending the careers of about 700 observers around the country.
