Here is the reply from my congressmen!
Dear Charles:
Thank you for contacting me with your concerns on sequestration. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to me, and it is an honor to represent you in Congress.
Despite the House of Representatives voting two separate times to replace sequestration, President Obama declined to address our legislation or even propose an alternative. I understand your frustration with the sequester and how the budget cuts are being implemented. The unfortunate truth is that much of the pain could have been easily avoided. However, the Obama Administration has intentionally amplified the impact of these budget cuts in order to prevent Congress from ever considering cutting another dollar from the federal budget.
As a member of the General Aviation Caucus of the 113 Congress, you can be certain that I am committed to supporting air traffic controllers, traffic manager coordinators, U.S. NOTAM Specialists, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) engineers, aircraft certification professionals, and other aviation safety professionals. My staff has been in direct contact with the FAA, and I have carefully reviewed the NATCA's latest report, How Sequestration will Affect the Flying Public and the U.S. Economy. I believe that available funding can be used responsibly to continue directing the safest, most complex and efficient airspace in the world.
As you may know, the House and Senate recently passed two very conflicting budgets. We have some tough budget challenges ahead, and I look forward to working towards a solution that supports FAA and ensures safety and efficiency for our airports. Please know I will keep your views in mind as we continue to work on this important issue.
Thank you again for taking the time to reach out to me with your input. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of further assistance in the future.
Sincerely,
Chuck Fleischmann
Member of Congress
