Late comer to board. Recently received my PATCO Badge and a mailer to call Congress immediately to voice concerns about Tower Closures. I subsequently eMailed the following to Mark Neimiser and Jerry Tuso:
Sirs, thank you for the solidarity pin I received in the mail along with the instructions on calling my congressmen to voice my concerns over the recent sequester-caused closure of control towers.
Reviewing the documents enclosed I did not see anything about the FAA efforts to terminate Contract Weather Offices. An oversight, I'm sure. Especially since I have heard very little official information at all, gleaning what I know from the Internet.
To be honest, I find myself wondering if the Contract Weather Offices are being sacrificed to preserve the Towers as all arguments I've read express concern over impacts to Tower personnel.
As it stands, my Contract Weather Office is scheduled to be closed June 16th, 2013. As of this date, no official notice has been given as to our status.
So, my questions are this:
What is the status of the Contract Weather office closures?
While I'm calling Congress about saving the Control Towers, who's calling Congress about saving My job?
The response from Mr. Tuso:
There is no official notice of closing, however, we all can read the hand writing on the wall..That is why we have lobbyists working the hill. PATCO is calling congress..Know that the DOT is making these decisions for the FAA and they report directly to the President..The future, for now, doesn’t look bright....Continue to work your politicos..Jerry
