Just wanted to state that all major media outlets in New York have been contacted on numerous occasions (CBS, NBC, ABC, and smaller channels). Seems like they are not interested until something is made official.

Al Roker was covering the FAA ATC furlough story on the Today Show..How ironic is that he is a fellow weatherman, and "America's Weatherman"..I am sure once we get a definite word on our demise, Al Roker can run with this story and make America aware of who we are and what our situation is..Like I said, I think he will take a special liking to our story..Also, the fact that our program consists of over 90% military vets..America will know who we are soon enough.

I agree but we need to make the news before we are the news. it is easier for the FAA to stop this nonsense before the ball gets rolling so fast no one can stop it. I mean, it would be better for the FAA to issue the weather contracts and continue with the program. You can see the mess if the FAA went to LAWRS and never issued the contracts then bingo,,started this whole bidding again and then try getting the CWO;s back to work. and according to the NWS who wants nohting to do with the CWO prgram, the Weather Ob needs to continue to take obs to remain certified or have to retake the stupid test...No..we need to stop this before it happens...

I guess we need to send a story about us to the Today Show and get Al Roker to do it And we need to send one to GMA and have Sam Champion help us out. WE SHOULD ALL WRITE THEM STORIES ABOUT OUR JOBS AND HAVE THEM RUN THEM BEFORE THE CRAP HITS THE FAN!

To make a disclaimer here, this didn't have any approval from or advance notice to our contractor. It didn't occur to me at the time that this would be an issue and there was little time to even think about it in this situation. Before considering this course of action, make sure your contractor is on board. I've never been in the military, but this was one of those taking initiative outside of the chain of command things. In retrospect, it wasn't a good idea to do it this way.
