House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) stated that he found it shocking that the FAA did not outline its plan to furlough 15,000 air traffic controllers to stakeholders before last Tuesday, and that he was appalled that the FAA disclosed details less than a week before it took effect.
He went on to slam the administration as a whole over how the budget cuts have played out and told Huerta, “this imperial attitude on the part of the administration—and you’re the more recent example of that imperialism—is disgusting.”

That's great news but...
Only the Executive Branch can direct the FAA to stop.
Congress can appropriate earmarked funds to stop this but cannot direct the FAA to stop the way they are dealing with the cuts.

March 15 CWO transition plan Challenge, "Airport Authority will not provide non-Federal observers at sites regularly impacted by winter weather." Impact "Medium" Likelihood "Medium" Mitigation Strategy "LAWRS Observers currently augment winter weather at service level C airports when these elements can be observed from the tower; if LAWRS cannot differentiate between elements then Part 121 and Part 135 operations cannot occur." My question is does the FAA have each Airport Authority on board to ensure that Part 121 and Part 135 operations can occur when the tower cannot differentiate between elements and are trained properly? My opinion, Likelihood Low.

Hokie Fan, that's why I put it here, wait until the last moment, implement this plan or airport operations will be affected, scare tactic, this "draft" plan is full of holes and ASSumptions.
