Now the FAA can make the weather test a simple sign off course like SAVI. This will speed up controller certification by quite a bit. Rather than a site taking 2 to 3 months to take the review course and test, they can make it as short as they would like and an entire tower could be certified in 2 weeks. This is not good at all for us. I think it would be a miracle if any non remote alaska CWO sites survives FY 2014.

The FAA has a 16 hr. CBI course for LAWRS, so it won't take long for a tower to WX certify their observers. I would consider the NWS transferring this responsibility to the FAA as writing on the wall... the end is near my friends.
