New language permits air traffic control towers (ATCT) and surface based weather observers to enter the observation into an FAA approved electronic system (for example, AIS-R, SWIM or similar systems) or phoned to the tie-in Flight Service Station when an FAA approved electronic system is not available.
The new ASOS 3.10 software upgrade corrects the problem that was identified in ALDARS service. Therefore, ALDARS must be enabled 24 hours per day.
