and since ALDARS cannot tell the direction the TS is moving...pueblo airport gets hit by strong TS winds without warning. but this is the new FAA standard...

This is something we can point out (though I have issue with some sites having TS standards that allow the same thing)- LTG DSNT can miss in-close storms but pick up ones over 200 miles away with ALDARS, making it useless.

Everytime I have left ALDARS on it has eventually become UNREPRESENTATIVE, so now I plan on just turning it off, it's such a enormous waste of time.
FAA Contract Controllers and non Contract controllers are just letting ALDARS run on its own no matter what kind of junk it's putting out. A good example is about 3 weeks ago when KMKC a large busy Airport reported TS with totally CLR skies.

Two 1-minute thunderstorms no less. I think??? (scratching my head.....oh wait, thunderstorms aren't important so it's OK!!!). Why even have an "observer".

Don't give 'em any ideas... And now I hear they're complaining about our remarks - which ALDARS and LAWRS can't handle.

reliable? ALDARS strikes again...ends a TS then begins it again one minute later...ALDARS likes to let people know the TS is over...so TWO ending times...1855...then again at 1859... obstroller is logged off for the 1953Z metar.

spinks ap ft worth. at least one LTGCG strike within 5 miles of the ap...at about 07Z. but because AWOS only spits out every 20 minutes...it missed the TS and at 0715Z reported VCTS as the LTG had moved away from the ap.
