So, if I'm looking at these obs correctly, the ASOS reported an erroneous tornado all by itself? Since the report says AO2, not AO2A, doesn't that mean the ASOS is not being augmented? Or has that changed.

Wow! So ATC augmented a tornado (+FC) when there wasn't one?! Heads would roll at my office! First, the NWS would be tasked to investigate a tornado that never happened, the news media would be reporting on a tornado that never happened, not to mention that the FAA as well as the site Senior Observer would be all over me. I could very well be fired! What load of shit that is. "Quality observations for over 20 years" coming out of these towers though.

Not sure how it happened, but we called the tower at the airport to ask about the report when it came in and they said it was not happening.

Still, not acceptable to make a purposeful augmenting mistake like that. How exactly does that happen, anyway? Oops, I just keystroked a tornado by accident?!

did TBW get an explanation of WHY +FC was transmitted in a metar? I suspect the obstroller accidently? hit the Tornado hot key. ok...fine..then send a correction to state THERE IS NO TORNADO. it just keeps getting better an better.
