All,
The above meeting is very important to us as far as future funding to the FAA and the CWO Program. I've been told that there may be something in the works as far as suggestion of protective language of the CWO Program as a whole. If you live in an area of the United States where one of the below Congresspeople represents your District/State, please contact them and tell them what's going on, how you feel about it, and what you believe can be done to correct the situation the FAA has put some of us in (the rest of the sites will follow if the FAA gets their way by the way). I have tried to contact most of these people unsuccessfully, but I admit that I do not live in any of their Districts, so the letters I've written either go unanswered or get sent to another congressperson that is not on one of the following House or Senate Subcommittees. (I'll keep trying anyway, however. Has anyone had any success thus far with any of these specific people?) The link after the subcommittee gives the contact information of all in the Senate or House, which can be used to contact these people by email or snail mail. I suggest both. This could be a final push to end all of this crap if we push hard enough, so do it!:

Someone with good presentation skills needs to put together a presentation that lays it all on the line and contact all the national news organizations, e.g., CNN, CNBC, etc., to air nationally. We need to get the word out to every household, aviation enthusiast, and all the congressional people. We have had some excellent local TV presentations but we need to get the word out nationally. Somewhere in the presentation there has to be a message to Congress to, basically, get off their proverbial asses and stop the FAA in their tracks to protect the safety of the flying public and prevent potential weather related aircraft disasters. I would end the message to Congress with "who knowa? The life you save may be your own. Think about that when it's time to vote"........

This budget process is where a provision to protect the CWO program should be addressed...Dont know if it will happen...would be nice , but with clueless bureaucrats and people living in their own dreamworld...the faa could care less about weather and the ramifications of their dumb@#$$ moves...
Colleagues,
As you are aware, proposed legislation for reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration was introduced in the House of Representatives today that would affect the long-term structure of the agency. During the coming weeks, we expect a great deal of public attention on the FAA as Congress considers several proposals to reauthorize the agency’s budget and authority. Transportation Secretary Foxx also issued a statement this afternoon on the proposal.
While this process unfolds, I will be working with FAA and DOT leadership to carefully review the various legislative proposals. We are committed to understanding whether they would further support the incredible work of our dedicated women and men while minimizing disruption to the significant progress we've already made and providing the necessary tools to meet the aviation safety demands of the future.
As I have said before, we are open to a debate about restructuring the agency as part of reauthorization, but the most important tasks of reauthorization should be to provide budget stability and management flexibility to execute on our priorities. Reauthorization provides an opportunity to achieve a safer and more efficient system by guaranteeing a stable operating environment for the FAA.
The strength of this agency lies in the dedication and professionalism of the highly trained public servants who come to work every day with an unwavering focus on keeping America’s skies the safest in the world. I want to urge you to maintain that focus as this debate takes its course.
I realize that many of you will have questions. I expect to hold a Town Hall meeting in the near future to share with you what we know. We will also set up a mechanism that will enable us to keep you informed and to answer future questions as they arise.
Thank you once again for your dedication to maintaining the safest and most efficient aerospace system in the world.

What is the source of this statement, snowwx? I'll put him or her on my list of people to send my latest letter to.

Budget stability?? What a crock of nonsense - they think they will "save" $20M, when their costs will increase at least ten times that. IF they privatize ATC, the flying public will pay a totally out-of-control NATCA whatever NATCA demands in the form of "user fees" - read that new taxes and raise the cost of flying significantly, which will reduce air travel, air traffic, and ATC workload... The whole country will suffer, adding to the economic depression that the O won't admit is happening. And our pension investments are worth less every day... This is economics 101 folks, why do they think we can't see this? I propose that the feds bust NATCA worse than Reagan did to PATCO in the '80s, then fire 2/3 of the FAA mgmt. We don't want distracted privatized ATCs doing our work either - the safety issue still remains.
