Subject: Updated: Change in the METAR code for the United States regarding hail reporting effective September 13, 2018 Updated to change moderate ice pellets from (IP) to (PL) and to delete the comment "If no hail size is reported it will be assumed to be small hail" The latest notice we received on this subject was to include the "GR LESS THAN 1/4" RMK.

there was notification from the FAA to cancel the requirement for the entry: GR LESS THAN 1/4. no entry would mean hail was less than 1/4 inch in diameter. why didn't they just make SP for snow pellets? and leave the rest the hell alone. these people are a disaster waiting to happen.
how about the latest from these geniuses. wanting to know what minimums are in ASOS...duh. all they have to do is LOOK.

There is no way they would try and say we cant report it if the ASOS doesnt have it right? So no more VV001 and M1/4? We would just go down to 200 and 1/2? LOL

LOL those are airport minimums...not the minimum we can report. of course we can report VV000 and 0SM as an example. M1/4 is not reported by CWO's 1/8...1/16...and 0 are reported
