-- sites scheduled to go part time on new contract will go part time on Friday, February 1, 2013.
-- 6-month extensions on current contract will be exhausted on March 31, 2013. If turnover does not occur on April 1, 2013, then purchase orders would likely be issued.

-- Purchase orders are the only way the FAA can continue to fund the contract in place. There is a 6-month extension to be used by the government, at its own descression.
That 6 month period will be exhausted March 31, 2013.
After that, and there is no official award, then purchase orders would be the next step ... which I believe must be issued one month at a time.
-- As far as the part time sites starting tonight at midnight, I wish I was incorrect with my information.
February 1 2013 it begins.

March 1, 2013 the part time sites will go back to being full time.
I posted this on a forum on the internet, therefore it must be valid! (Sarcasm). Just trying to get my point across that people post too much on here and on the internet without posting proof or a link to proof. Obviously, I have no information about the part time sites, so first statement was a joke. I do however, feel for those losing hours/jobs at those sites.

"I have no information about the part time sites"
You don't seem to have any info about anything.

I belong to a couple forums where everyone is actually pretty courteous and keeps rude comments to themselves. This forum could be like that too.

BINOVC,
I totally believe in that, and try to keep my mouth shut. But when some random person calls me a P.O.S. for stating my opinion, I will not stay quiet. I don't care for that but am surely goig to respond.
My basis for replying in this post, was that more people need to put links/emails/contacts/ etc...when they are posting information that are more like rumours. I think a lot of them here and on other forums do it to just get a rise out of people, get them pannicking.

Re: Is it worth it? « Reply #11 Yesterday at 3:05pm » ^
Would you be willing to be give up the benefits you get from the CBA since you are gladly not part of the union? If not you are a hipocritical POS.

Sounds to me like irishwx has been wronged in the past ...
I have been on many boards over the years in connection with weather observers, even back to the days when IBEX Weather ran a board for years off their company website.
I found over the many years that most postings are NOT to get a rise out of folks or set off the panic button, but to inform the masses on up coming events or spread the word on concerns or questions.
Lots of information is either by word of mouth or from a source that by posting "evidence" would eliminate that source from future information.
I am sorry that we can not post a document everytime information needs to be posted ... after being on the boards awhile you know who is bringing valuable information (most here) to the board, and who is just running their mouth (very few), so to speak.
If you are in this profession a long time you would know that getting any straight information from a valid source is hard at best.
As it was mentioned on this thread ... it was no secret that the sites going part time, did go. The SIR / RFP clearly spelled it out in the documention under specific facility listings and pricing.
Only question was when? If the contracts were awarded as expected back on October 1, 2012, then it would have occurred then. Word on the eventual date of February 1 2013 only came down a short time ago and the kicker here is ... we are still running off the old contract.
One issue was that to lessen to blow on drop in hours, at least an admin shift would have opened up 8 hours a month at the part time sites so a part timer that was loosing hours due to the cutback could at least get in 8 hours a month by covering the 8 hour observing shift while the supervisor did the admin shift.
Well this has not occurred as the cutbacks to part time happened while the addition of the admin shift still awaits the new contract.
Now the next issue on the slate is the 14 sites with a composite score of 6 (from the industry report) that are currently in the CWO program due to the "B vs C service standard tie breaker", are set to shut as soon as May 1, 2013.
Once again, there is no hard evidence, yet ... but enough confirmation from several sources to believe it is a real threat.

I think he is new and naive TCU. Anyone who has worked longer than a few shifts at a CWO knows you're not as an individual going to negotiate with your vendor for better wages.
