obstroller proly forgot to put ASOS in AUTO. then when they came back this am...sky was IFR. so...wonder how many planes had to land or takeoff overnight not knowing the ceiling height? but...missing obs during IFR..possibly even LIFR conditions. No degradation

If people who fly only knew.....especially if important people knew and understood what's exactly going on here, this crap wouldn't happen. And I would think there would be some important people flying in and out of that airport on vacation at least.

the problem is the FAA will explain this away...after all...no plane crashed. I don't believe the NWS or ANY user group would sign off on this garbage. lets's see this in writing!

it is now 0300Z on the 12th of OCt--- the last Metar transmitted from CID- Cedar Rapids,IA LAWRS was on 2152Z on the 11th--- 5 hours a of missing metars... quality the same as a CWO?? This info WILL make our panel as I'am sure the FAA will use nearby, similar sites that are LAWRS--
Last 2 Metars from KCID---

NWS just shrugs their collective shoulders and says "oops, oh well". They are busy trying to automate the upper air measuring, and river and stream gauges - just as bad as the FAA, though their mgmt. isn't quite as callous. Our cause needs to be before user groups and the American people - who if they knew, would be appalled.
