I can just hear obstroller talking to pilot at 1056Z...ya, we got clear skies at 2 thousand. 0056Z...remarks...isn't that excessive/unnecessary reporting?? 1857Z...obstroller wanders into svc lvl A territory with attempted TCU remarks...but no TCU appended to the cloud layer.

Since the NWS automated their upper air site at Utqiagvik (used to be called Barrow), there has been no NWS met tech and no one there who knows weather... must have been an ATC trying to impress a polar bear. These are the guys who reported a seal on the runway... that was real anyway.

highly trained (probably by ken or calamity) obstroller on manual obs. no metar transmitted at 2055...FIBI manually appended to 2155 metar...which obviously DID transmit. hard to believe that in a two hour period sky can go from SKC to BKN250 back to SKC. but thats just me.

We seem to always find new things "we've never seen before" with these LAWRS sites.....maybe NATCA shouldn't have thrown their own workers under the bus and refused to perform LAWRS years ago. Nah, that would've made too much sense.

Nah, that would've made too much sense. skobie Yeah Skobie... NATCA was just looking at pay raises for all those who took more training to "perform additional responsibilities". What nobody at the FAA is considering is safety - distracted ATCs are why they contracted weather in the first place.
