The 2 admin. asst.'s here just got word via email they are not getting cut hours. They are excited. What that means to us I do not know. I did however find out that an email was hacked from the Whitehouse stating if his scares did not work go on and cut programs anyway and call it sequestration to cover his butt.

I take that back. They lose just 1 day per pay period. They were told it could have been 2, sothat is why they are happy.

LOL, yep. In today's techn., which all politicans hate, nothing is safe. Look at all the stupid things they post on twitter, too. The internet exposes more than think. Just like the exposed global warming emails when they were told to change data that went against global warming a few yesrs back.

Anyway, that article is now gone. It more or less was sent to / answer to a concerned organization asking about the cuts when he was on TV warning of no food for kids, no fire dept., no teachers, no day care, etc. They were told it was a scare tatic to get people to work with the White House, but if scares failed, they would go on and makes some cuts here and there and call it the sequestration to cover his butt.

Back to the issue at hand, our ATC manager is telling the controllers who got furrlough notices to hold tight. The Air Force Base here is fighting to keep the ATC 24/7. She still has not gotten word on hours of operation, or contract weather. She promised me she woild let me know as soon as word came down.

I recently ( march 6th) emailed a pilot that I know about the potential demise of the CWO's across the nation--- here was part of his response--
"I talked to my local FSDO about your situation (no names were mentioned) and the pending closures of many control towers across the country they have no idea what is going on and are basically in the same boat as you. They too are waiting for their walking papers. I feel for you and I know that my work and safety will be effected by this."

Sequestration in a nut ------
A guy stopped at a local gas station, and after filling his tank, he paid the bill and bought a soft drink. He stood by his car to drink his cola and watched a couple of men working along the roadside. One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep and then move on. The other man came along behind him and filled in the hole. While one was digging a new hole, the other was 25 feet behind filling in the hole. The men worked right past the guy with the soft drink and went on down the road. "I can't stand this," said the man tossing the can into a trash container and headed down the road toward the men. "Hold it, hold it," he said to the men. "Can you tell me what's going on here with all this digging and refilling?" "Well, we work for the government and we're just doing our job," one of the men said. "But one of you is digging a hole and the other fills it up. You're not accomplishing anything. Aren't you wasting the taxpayers' money?" "You don't understand, mister," one of the men said, leaning on his shovel and wiping his brow. "Normally there's three of us: me, Elmer and Leroy. I dig the hole, Elmer sticks in the tree, and Leroy here puts the dirt back. Elmer's job's been cut ... so now it's just me an' Leroy

The only news I have heard today is one controller said they are cutting back on his Army Reserve training. Here is what does not make sense. They are still carrying thru with the planned - earthquake - construction of the tower beginning in a month or two - all contracted out to place shock cushions under the entire ATC Complex. It is suppose to take several months to complete. I did some history checking, the strongest quake ever was not felt. Is this a shovel ready job that is not needed?

yes, the army and marines are getting their tuition assitance program cut as well. My son's post doesn't have money to fix broken equipment or to buy trash bags at the moment. Just so unacceptable.

This may partly explain why Alaska sites would not be cut. Unless Contract Weather and Contract Tower are considered both in one program.
The sequester cuts discretionary spending across-the-board by $109.3 billion a year from 2014-2021 and $85.4 billion in 2013.
But no programs are actually eliminated. The effect is to reduce the scale and scope of existing programs rather than to zero out any of them.
The sequester must be applied evenly to every “program, project, and activity.” What is a program, or a project, or an activity, you ask? No one really knows, and OMB will have to define that. But the last time we did a sequester, an example of an activity was an individual buoy floating in the Chesapeke Bay. That buoy had to be cut by 5 percent. So no, administrators don’t have much flexibility. Their hands are largely tied.

How is that an even reduction to the program...I work at an A level site and our percentage of bad weather is the highest in the lower 48.

Love him or hate him, O'Reilly brings up some great programs to get rid of. The first 3:40 are the best to watch. Remember, if they cut our program, or as TCU puts it "reduce it", it's a cut people...at least we will be able to get some nice Moroccan pottery! www.billoreilly.com/video?chartID=556&vid=-953531101855286594
