Seriously?! 5+ days ago. From what I saw of the FAA "randomly" checking obs on the one and only desk audit memo they sent out last September, they supposedly de-certified all obstrollers at the site (and they probably cheered) when something like 4+ days of obs were missing and not backed up. Of course, they re-certified these same obstrollers after giving them "re-certification training" (and a hit with a wet noodle) and it probably happened simultaneously b/c who would be taking the obs if everyone on site was decertified FAA??? Wonder what they'll do this time? Probably nothing since the desk audits are random. Anyone know if we as observers can report problems? We and/or our contractors are internal or external FAA stakeholders one would think. KC's email or voicemail would be full daily...

It's Monday morning, July 17th. Hollywood Florida LAWRS site has still not transmitted a report since 10/1153Z,
which makes the outage over a week now!
The NWS 5-MIN observation page, shows the outage began between 1230Z-1235Z:
There were several LTG strikes near the airport at that time. It appears lightning caused the outage. |
