Surely, they would have been smart enough to shred it first.

Your sarcasm is uncalled for - Jerry Tuso has been pounding the halls of congress and trying to get our cause before the FAA to get them to change their minds... I spoke to Jerry last Monday to ask his thoughts on this - his reply, "War over"

I spoke to Jerry last Monday to ask his thoughts on this - his reply, "War over" If the war is over then how come where are still on contract extensions? We are going on 8 months now for the extensions? When will the new contracts go into affect? Are we still going to have a job on Oct 1? If Jerry has been doing so much, why hasn't he kept his union at least appraised of the on going situation? All he has to do is email each union rep and have them forward to everyone in there shop, but that hasn't happened. This is a pretty big situation and we've heard nothing from Jerry and PATCO except from what people have been told by him when they called him.

"War over" in my opinion means just this last battle - and we need to be prepared for the next round - having said that several times, FAA can extend current contracts with 2 simple signatures for an indefinite period - as long as contractor and FAA agree, and the bids awarded last year are still under protest - I look for a new bid solicitation around July or August, with new contract awards October for January 1 start... - we will see, but be ready for anything. I'm hearing rumors of congressional help (certainly the Alaska delegation and FAA getting a funding increase for FY14.

Sorry, I need to add a bit of what appears to be good news - an involved source tells me that Fairbanks ATC have been ordered to stand down on LAWRS training - something Jerry was working on.

Today is Sept 29. Union contract expires Sept 30. Have we heard from Tuso about a new contract??? NO!!!!!!! Tried to call him a few days ago. Voice mail stated he was out of town til Sept 30. How convenient. Previous contract exempted our location from having to purchase company health insurance or contributing to their 401K. Will we have that option with our new contractor? Who the hell knows??? I realize he must have been very busy trying to negotiate all the contracts but come on....surely he could have kept us in the loop on how the negotiations were progressing or what he was even asking for. As in the past, he did not ask our input on what we would like to have in the contract so here we are with one day to go and no idea what our new contract says. Out of town until Sept 30? Come on Jerry....gee whiz!!!!! Anyone else out there that has not received their new contract?

Got ours with modest pay raise for Oct.1, 2013 - awhile ago. It should be up to the site representative to collect all that is desired for the site and get it in to Jerry 6 months or so before the contract expires. Don't blame Jerry Tuso for not knowing what you want when you haven't told him - and also remember that the CBA has to be NEGOTIATED - while we can ask, we can't dictate. WORK with the guy - he is a big help to us. I am confident that the next PATCO newsletter will have lots of info and news.

What's the best way to get a message out to Tuso- he's negotiating our contract, and I'd like him hear what I'd like him to try to get.

toofarnorth.....I don't blame Jerry for not knowing what we want (he never gets it anyway so we are used to it). What I am complaining about is we have 1 day left until the contract expires and "WE HAVE NOT HEARD A WORD FROM HIM"....I don't care what anyone says...that is a shoddy way to conduct business.

I think some of you are mixing up a CBA with a contract. The CBA is negotiated between PATCO and the Vendor. Jerry has gotten most of them done and sent out so if you haven't seen yours yet it's probably because he is waiting to negotiate with the vendor on it. The contract is between the vendor and the FAA and PATCO doesn't have anything to do with that.
If any of you are working for Rogers or ATS it looks like they will be gone soon so it's possible that Jerry isn't even going to negotiate with them but wait to do it with whoever gets the contract.

I know the difference between a contract and a CBA. When I said "union contract" I guess I assumed the average person would know what I was talking about....guess I was wrong. So I will re-word it...."Today is Sept 30. Union CBA expires today. Have we heard from Tuso about a new CBA??? NO!!!!!!!
I can appreciate the fact he may still be negotiating some CBA's....all he has do is "COMMUNICATE" that instead of leaving a stupid voice message saying he will be out of town until Sept 30. That is totally un-professional....

Do you call a dog a cat and a cat a dog too?

Beating up on Jerry Tuso is rather unprofessional also... He is easiest to reach by email or cell phone - which the receptionist at the federation tel# will give you - sorry, I don't have internet in the wx office and don't have his tel# handy here at home... It would be nice if he initiated more of the contact, but I have not had trouble reaching him whenever I needed to. Having been with other unions, PATCO is doing just fine - just don't expect them to be god. Collective bargaining is a very good thing.

I see this glass as half full rather than half empty. At least we still have our jobs.
