Thats kind of my point...I and others posted docs that we were given by people that shared them with us and were told that they were fake or doctored. We were asked to provide links which didn't exist. If those docs weren't posted here everyone would still be in the dark waiting for the FAA to resolve "the protest" before awarding the contracts. Can you understand that PowerPoint presentations can be easily doctored, and the observation of the different font and how if you removed those slides how the file flowed better could be interpreted that maybe, just maybe it might be doctored and give people a glimmer of hope that their jobs aren't being slashed. Also the changing information from certain sites not in the PowerPoint to be cut then all of sudden showing up and numbers not totally matching. That's why people have started questioning things and not just running with statements and files people that have been provided. No. But I never believed that Bush's discharge papers or Obama's birth certificate were fake either.

Is it a PATCO meeting with the FAA or just between FAA? I asked the same question of my local union rep here. He said the meeting would not involve PATCO. The only reason I can think of that Austin would make a logical meeting site, is that the Texas DOT has been directed by Gov. Perry to fund air traffic control towers slated to close. Maybe the entire CTWG program will be up for discussion there.

All I know is stuff is going on behind our backs, other wise we would already know what to expect. Who was it that said lets pass this bill then we can read it?

It is posted under this file by a member: FAA - Contract Weather Observer Program Analysis1.pdf

I just spoke with Jerry Tuso, and I asked him about a meeting in Austin Tx and he said it was the first he's heard of it. He said there is a meeting next week in Wash. D.C. and he should be told something next week. He thinks a few more B stations may be cut and that's it, but he said who knows. I believe he is as in the dark as anyone. What I got from the call was that A) nothing has been decided yet , and B) we will know something within 2 weeks. At this point anything is possible, but I do believe the bit of media attention that has been given in certain towns is helping the cause. Keep at it everyone.

So, basically we know one of three things to be true:
1. Jerry Tuso is a liar and has been telling people different things 2. Jerry Tuso doesn't have a freakin clue 3. People lie on here
Awesome. The internet is so much fun.
I have no clue which one of those to believe, as I haven't met most of you nor Jerry Tuso, so I will preclude judgment...but this is ridiculous. Speculation at its finest, and everyone gets their panties in wad. Awesome. Rant over (I feel like I have been saying "rant over" for like two months now)

All I can say is that last week I was told by a forecaster at NWS that we will hear something in the next week or two. Jerry's comment about a meeting next week in DC fits that timeline. Do we know if the list is THE actual final list? No. It may be but who knows. Here are my credentials: I served in the Air Force from Sep 1989-Oct 1992 (Misc separation under honorable conditions to go back to college) I received my training at Chanute AFB from Nov 1989-Feb 1990. I was then stationed at Castle AFB as an Observer from March 1990 to August 1991. I then served thirteen months at Camp Humphreys Anjun-ri South Korea as an observer from August 1991 to Sept of 1992. Upon separating from the Air Force I started working as an observer at a major Southern Airport and have been here since Jan. 1993. I am not on here to BS anyone. I want to work another twenty as an observer if I can. I am the Union Steward. Our station has suffered over the years with crap contractors like Nantom and Ed Tech. We've gone through all of the turmoil that has been tossed our way over the years and yet we are a team that has persevered. I am proud of my coworkers and I do not take this lightly. I do not believe Jerry is lying. I believe the FAA sees us as low hanging fruit, but I believe they also underestimated our pushback and resiliency. Keep your heads held high whatever happens.

I am not calling anyone out...but, I do think people make up stuff on here. And, why are we all listening to Jerry Tuso after MONTHS of him being in the dark or uninformed or not caring to inform us on anything? Makes no sense to me.

You know, really....I think people are just trying to post things that they've heard only to provide SOME insight into what the he*! is going on with the program. I don't think anyone is trying "scare" people intentionally.
I was also told by a tower sup that be careful what you believe from the Stuckmic forum. It's HIS opinion that a lot of stuff posted on that forum is just to stir up trouble and I would agree. I've read some of their threads and there's a lot of "arguing" and "accusing" going on. The poster that listed the weather site grouping and closure dates was a "newbie" named "gloomy-weather" and had only 3 posts.
Just saying, some things need to be taken with a grain of salt and yes, this roller coaster sucks, but at least we are being proactive when we see things posted here. It would be nice to have things confirmed, but it doesn't always work that way.
Stepping off my soap box now and sorry if anyone is offended.

I can't speak for his keeping people in the dark otherthan to say that he isn't the FAA. It is THEY whom are keeping us in the dark. As far as I knew we had been awarded a contractor...an excellent one in my view and our previous one...only to have the contract pulled until so-called "protests" were resolved. That has been the official line given by Patco and our contractor as told to them by the FAA. All of a sudden sequester happens and low and behold we are on the chopping block. Who gets spared and who doesn't? Who knows? I do know we are making a lot of noise which is a good thing.

This is the only hearing I am aware of:
Aviation Safety: FAA's Progress on Key Safety Initiatives
Democratic Press Office - (202) 224-8374
Apr 16 2013 2:30 PM Russell Senate Office Building - 253
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation announced the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has rescheduled the hearing titled “Aviation Safety: FAA’s Progress on Key Safety Initiatives” on April 16, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. This hearing will examine the consequences of sequestration on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the agency’s efforts to implement safety provisions in recent FAA reauthorizations, and the status of the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board’s ongoing investigation of the Boeing 787.

My reasoning for the whole people not telling the truth, or getting confused/lines crossed is how in the world does one person talk to Tuso an hour ago and he knows nothing of this Austin meeting. Whereas, someone just a few hours earlier had their manager talk to Tuso and Tuso told them about the meeting in Austin. I mean, I know weather can change quickly but something tells me that the meeting location can't change that quickly. Somebody got their lines crossed up; and of all the parties involved it was probably Tuso since it's him who has been in the dark and sitting back collecting dues while the rest of us here primarily have been finding out info here and there without him.

Would an FAA meeting (as opposed to a hearing) have a posted schedule?

I can't speak for someone hearing from someone else. I can only speak for what I personally heard from Jerry. Perhaps he heard Washington as Austin. Does Austin make sense to anyone? My guess is he heard Jerry wrong.

I just spoke with Jerry a couple hours ago to in some length and he told me outright that the only meeting he knew of was in Washington, D.C. next week between Congress and the FAA and that our lobbyists (PATCO) were going to be there to report back their findings of what went down. I am going to start calling Sen. Maria Cantwell and Sen. Kelly Ayotte tomorrow to lobby to them for our cause. It is imperative for them to bring us up in that meeting. They already have my letters, so there is no reason for them not to. We must get them to hear us and agree with saving our jobs if we have any chance with the FAA.
